THAT OLD SOUTHERN DRAG is the culmination of several cross-country tours, two aborted studio sessions, the formation and dissolution of half a dozen bands, a move to nashville, and one blossoming romantic relationship. It's taken Patrick sweany three years to fit all of it into a record, but then, you can't rush these things...
*As for the tours: 300+ gigs between 2007-2010 on his own, with his trio, and supporting folks like The Black Keys, The Gourds, Paul Thorn, The Wood Brothers, and Sonny Landreth.
*As for the studio: the skeleton of That Old Southern Drag was tracked at Fry Pharmacy with Scott McEwan of the Tarbox Ramblers. more tracking, mixing, and finishing was done by Joe McMahan (Mike Farris, Allison Moorer, Webb Wilder) at Wow & Flutter.
*As for the move: when Patrick is in his adopted city, he can be seen regularly at the family wash and The Basement, on his own and with his vintage blues/soul outfit the Tiger Beats.
*As for the relationship: well, you'll just have to listen to the record...
